We are proud to announce that Wesley Enhanced Living Doylestown’s latest entry into the “Scarecrows in the Village” contest at Peddler’s Village won 2nd place this year in the Traditional category!
The theme of our scarecrow, Wesley, put together by Wesley Enhanced Living Doylestown residents and employees, was “Wesley Salutes Our Veterans.” Wesley represents a large majority of our Wesley Enhanced Living resident population, male Army veterans from the Korean War era.
The flag Wesley holds is comprised of a mosaic of over 150 photos of our Wesley Enhanced Living family of veterans shared by Doylestown residents, employees, and their families. Some of these very special photographs are over 100 years old! To view these photos online, please visit the link below to view a video slideshow:
Wesley’s uniform is made from a collection of vintage army items found in army surplus stores in Pennsylvania and Georgia. Many of the items are over 50 years old and his pants date back to 1951!
Thank you and congratulations to the team of residents and employees who participated, gathering weekly for the annual Scarecrow Workshop class to make this happen! And thank you to the greater community for recognizing our special scarecrow with your vote.
We would also like to express our gratitude to Gibson’s Tactical Tavern in Columbus, GA and Doylestown Post 175 Veterans of Foreign Wars for their help with this project. And to our veterans, whose courage and dedication has kept our nation safe and free, thank you for your service.
Come visit Wesley on display until October 29th.
